Here’s yet another case of child abuse after Malaysia saw a wave of “nanny epidemic” concerning their negligence or lunacy back in July.
According to a yesterday (Sept 4) report by NST, a 68-year-old man had sexually assaulted an 11-month baby whom his daughter-in-law was taking care of.
The charge sheet revealed that the daughter-in-law requested the man’s help in taking care of the baby for a while as she needed head out to renew her car insurance and road tax on August 20. The female baby was in perfect health before she left.
When the hired nanny came home, she found that the baby was in pain and the crying wouldn’t stop. She noticed the baby’s trousers were stained with blood, thus she informed the baby’s parents that the infant was having a bloody stool, a medical condition where the individual is bleeding from the bottom due to bacterial infections, anal fissure or digestive problems. The baby was rushed to the Shah Alam Hospital immediately.
Checks by the doctors of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department found that it wasn’t a bloody stool and the fissure or tear didn’t come from the anal. However, the baby was found to suffer abrasion and redness inside of her genitals. The fresh wound stretched two-centimetre long closing to the anus.
Through a statement, a specialist revealed that the baby victim’s injury was due to a big and blunt object being forced into the vagina. Suggesting that the object could be either a finger or a penis, the damage done had caused a permanent tear on the victim’s hymen.
The investigation disclosed that the man had admitted to his son, husband to the hired nanny, that he did insert his finger into the baby’s genitals. He was charged under Section 377CA of the Penal Code which provides a jail sentence of not less than five years and not more than 30 years and strokes of rotan if found guilty.
The suspect pleaded guilty in court before Judge Mohd Kamil Nizam at the Special Court on Sexual Crimes against Children yesterday and he was sentenced to 12 years in jail and two strokes of the caning despite ageing past 50.
