Heartthrob singer Ed Sheeran held a breathtaking, heartwrenching to some, concert in Bukit Jalil Stadium last night (Apr 13).
The 28-year-old musician from Halifax, England performed on a floor-to-roof LED stage for two hours, carrying a guitar most of the time.
Sheeran was back to Malaysia in less than two years after performing in a sold-out Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil in November 2017.
He is currently on his global “Divide” stadium tour, which its namesake album has hits such as Shape Of You, Castle On The Hill, Perfect, Galway Gal, How Would You Feel (Paean), Eraser, and Happier.
Astro Awana reported that there were 41,000 concertgoers in Bukit Jalil Stadium which Sheeran said it was one of his biggest audience concerts ever. Malaysia Stadium Corporation chairman Tan Sri Tony Fernandes tweeted that Sheeran’s concert last night was even bigger than the ones in Hong Kong and Bangkok.
Yesterday concert was history 41000 paid to see edd sheran bigger than Hong Kong or Bangkok. We could have some more. Unfortunately organisation could have been better but was our first and safety first. Could not let people in early due to lightening pic.twitter.com/OTH0dJvTe3

When the night was ending, fans chanted encore and Sheeran reemerged to the stage, donned in “Harimau Malaya” sports jersey.
He performed Shape of You and You Need Me, I Don’t Need You for his last act.
Concertgoers sang in unison and it echoed around the entire stadium.
The designer of the Malaysia jersey, Melinda Looi, noted Sheeran was wearing the jersey and took to Instagram for a shoutout.
Our two-time Olympic medallist Pandelela Rinong also tweeted about it.
“When Ed Sheeran wearing Malaysian tiger T-shirt to sing Shape of You. Go Teddy!” Rinong wrote.
Other than that, during the concert, a couple was engaged as the man went down on one knee, pulled out a ring and asked his lover to marry him.
Concertgoer @luna.carol was able to capture the moment. The video saw the girl said yes and the couple was in a tight embrace as they kissed.
@luna.carol told FeedMe Malaysia that it happened when Sheeran was singing Photograph and she saw it in seating zone 404. The crowd there cheered for the couple’s engagement and did not bother that the proposal stunt interrupted their concert experience.
