It is not just your Facebook and Instagram that are acting weird, it seems that both of the social media are down around the whole world since 9pm, Sunday (Aug 4).
According to Down Detector, an independent outage monitor website, Malaysia and SEA region have the highest reports of disruptive service on Facebook. Japan is also covered in red, indicating that many Facebook users in the country have also made a report.
As for Instagram, Malaysia and SEA region have the highest reports again − probably only second to the East of North America region where cities like Toronto and New York are also covered with red patches.
International news sites such as Mirror UK, The Independent, The Sun and Daily Mail have all reported on the issue, citing that users are experiencing difficulty in logging in, loading video or photo content, as well as unable to upload new content.
Messenger chats have also stopped working for many, while some have reported a total blackout.
#FacebookDown and #InstagramDown are trending on Twitter, with the latter hitting the 16th spot as of 12.20am, Monday (Aug 5).

Facebook has repeatedly been hit by a number of outages this year. In March, the company that runs Instagram and WhatsApp was also down for more than a day.
Facebook Inc explained after that they had a “server configuration change”.
Hopefully, they can resolve it faster this time.
Are you affected by the outage too? Let us know in the comments below.
