To all movie buffs and even film connoisseurs, Golden Screen Cinema (GSC) One Utama is making some major upgrades to up their cinema game. The major one? In 2019, they will have a three-wall cinema in One Utama!
According to GSC Facebook posts on December 12, it’s announced that Screen X will debut in the Petaling Jaya mall next year. The three-wall cinema is described as a “270-degree viewing experience by expanding the scene onto the side walls” and it’s said to be the world’s first multi-projection immersive cinematic platform.
In the announcement posts, we found that two types of comments kept reoccurring. A few netizens hope that the Screen X cinema would screen Twiceland (2018), a biopic of the K-pop group Twice which was released in the US on December 7.
Billboard described the experience was “heightened” thanks to the three-screen theatre hall. It is strategically utilized to feature all nine members’ dance formation, three on each screen − bringing them up-close to the audience. Wow, what a time to be alive to see K-pop babes in such a fashion!
Another request is that fans are frantically calling GSC to roll out Screen X before the premiere of “Avengers 4: Endgame”, which is slated to be released on April 26, 2019.
Of course! Did you know the audience had 26% larger screen when they watched “Avengers 3: Infinity War” in 3D IMAX? It means they had more content on screen in every single frame! Who knows what Screen X could offer.
Some netizens suggested that such a theatre would be best for viewing horror films, another added that it’s a must to watch “Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters” in the new immersive theatre.
Hitz.fm reported that GSC One Utama will also launch 4DX theatre in the coming days before 2019. GSC Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru has already had the moving-chairs theatre 12 months ago and they have shown movies like “Solo: A Star Wars Story”, “Avengers: Infinity War” as well as now-showing movies “Mortal Engines” and “Aquaman”. JB people so lucky!
Other than moving-chairs, 4DX theatres have other practical effects such as water sprinkles, bubble, scent and face air effect, giant turbines to create a breeze, fog machines and more. All these effects will be available to moviegoers this December.
