IGP: Gay Sex Video of Azmin is Real But Can’t Identify the Men

After the gay sex video implicating that one of the men is Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali surfaced over a month ago (Jun 11), the police has finally been able to confirm that the video is authentic.

According to Malaysiakini, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said the video is real but they cannot ascertain the identities of the men.

Without elaborating what he meant by “authentic”, such as if the video was filmed in a Sandakan hotel during the by-election there or simply the video is not digitally doctored, he pushed the responsibility of identifying the men to the CyberSecurity.

“The video, who are those in the video are not within my jurisdiction. So we sent it to Cybersecurity to determine if the video is authentic and if Cybersecurity can ascertain who are in it.

“The answer we received… They (Cybersecurity) said ‘authentic’ (tulen) but they cannot be 100 percent certain who are ‘pelaku-pelaku‘ (those in the video).

“I, as the IGP, cannot simply make statements based on this because it becomes a subject in court proceedings if the matter is brought to justice,” Hamid said yesterday (Jul 17).

He then explained the complexity of the case, hoping the public could understand the constraints he has as the federal police chief.

“This is why I said this case is not as easy to be resolved in a matter of one, two or three weeks.

“There are those who pressure me… (asking) is there a timeframe (to complete the investigations). It is not for me to decide.

“Two weeks ago, they asked me the same question (on the timeframe). I replied that investigations are being carried out in an active manner. Following this, there were several arrests,” he added.

As of now, eight individuals have been arrested in relation to the case, including PKR president Anwar Ibrahim’s political aide − Haziq Abdullah Abdul Haziz.

Prime Minister-in-waiting Anwar said the Economic Affairs Minister should resign if the latter is conclusively identified as the other man in sex video, Malay Mail reported him as saying yesterday.

In response, Azmin told Anwar to look in the mirror.

“Read my lips, tell him he must look in the mirror. Ask Anwar to engage in self-reflection, look at himself in the mirror first,” he told reporters after being asked to respond to Anwar’s suggestion.

Anwar was imprisoned for committing sodomy twice in 1998 and 2008. He received a royal pardon from the then-King and cleared him from any wrongdoings days after the 14th General Election.

Yikes. We hope the police can quickly get to the bottom this and bring the conspirators to face the music.
