Good old classic “God of Song” Jacky Cheung will be back in Malaysia again after performing three sold-out nights of concerts at Axiata Arena back in January.
Today (Sept 2) at 1pm was when Cheung’s October 5th to 7th concert tickets open for sale at Quill City Mall, Jalan Sultan Ismail. Many would expect fierce competition from Malaysian fans to snatch up the tickets once the ticket booth opened, which is why there was a fan who had been queuing up outside the mall since August 27, last Monday!
The Star reported that the avid fan Nicholas Ngoi, a 22-year-old college student hailing from Johor Bahru, had brought with him a trolley bag. Ngoi told the daily that he had been a fan of the legendary Cantopop singer for the past 10 years.
“This is my first experience and I think it’s worth it because I’ve been a Jacky Cheung fan for 10 years. I was afraid of not being able to catch my first ever concert of the singer so I decided to start camping here on Monday for the tickets.
“My parents have no problem with me doing this. They just reminded me to take care of myself. I plan to get four VIP tickets priced at RM988 each,” said the student who is currently on a semester break.
Ngoi was the first in the line and the second came a day after he started. He said that the security guards didn’t interrupt the fans and the place was safe. He had no trouble eating or showering as the mall was well facilitated with restaurants and restrooms.
The daily reported that as of Friday night, the day of Merdeka, 80 people were seen queuing at the mall for Cheung’s “A Classic Tour” concert which would be held at the same venue, Axiata Arena.
