From today onwards, our Members of Parliament’s monthly income is no longer a secret to us!
The Star reported today (Oct 11) that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had published 47 Pakatan Harapan and Parti Warisan Sabah parliamentarians’ asset declaration and the one that bags the most money every month is our Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.
According to MACC website − mydeclaration.sprm.
Malaysiakini reported that the stated incomes were the lawmakers’ individual monthly earning and not inclusive of their joint family income.
Lim’s wife and son had declared their earnings to the anti-graft body while Dr Mahathir only declared his and his wife’s income. The premier’s son Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who’s the Menteri Besar of Kedah, didn’t declare his income to MACC and he wasn’t on the list.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was 11th on the list, making RM59,048.33 a month. Her income was declared along with her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the PKR president and newly-elected Port Dickson MP. Their daughter Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar was not on the list.
After the 10% pay cut Dr Mahathir announced in early of his administration, it’s estimated that his monthly salary would be about RM20,543.99 while Dr Wan Azizah would be about RM16,351.33. Other ministers’ paycheck would be around RM13,416.48 a month.
