This man is taking his rights to free speech too far when he filmed himself threatening Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and circulated the video on social media.
In the 2 minutes and 20 seconds video, the man in white hair spurred seditious remarks at Lim and challenged the minister to come to Rantau. The constituency in Negeri Sembilan will have a by-election this April 13.
Following the video, Jelutong MP RSN Rayer had lodged a police report against the man and he urged Inspector-General of Police to identify the individual behind the defaming video.
Rayer said the individual posed a serious threat to Lim and urged the police to arrest and charge him in court.
“The safety of our Finance Minister is at stake,” he told reporters after making the report at the Datuk Keramat police station in Penang on today (Mar 15).
“The man in the video gave defamatory statements and posted (statements that constituted) criminal intimidation against our Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, who is also Bagan MP. The man said in the video reportedly challenged Lim to go to Rantau, threatening to do something to Lim if he saw Lim in the by-election campaign.”
Rayer added that the man also accused Lim of evicting residents from Taman Manggis PPR (Projek Perumahan Rakyat), Penang.
He urged Malaysian not to play up racial issues and make defamatory statements.
“Be responsible and do not simply give out defamatory statements, as people who do not know the truth will also make incorrect defamatory statements,” he said.
In the video, the irate man said the Finance Minister is no different than his father Lim Kit Siang. He called Lim a “dog” and said the latter’s behaviour is no different than a “communist”.
The man warned Lim not to forget who accorded him the position he has today.
“But once you get the position, your behaviour is like a communist.
“You are truly the communist race. You kick out my people, you kick out the people who share the same religion as I.
“For the sake of my country and my race, I will not keep mum,” the man said with a pointing finger.
The man said he has lost his patience with Lim and he will be waiting for the Finance Minister at Rantau.
