It is all fun and games within a group of kids until the Fire Department is involved.
A nine-year-old girl was trapped in a washing machine after she mischievously climbed into one out of curiosity at a self-service laundrette yesterday (May 25), Berita Harian reported.
The incident occurred around 4.30pm when she was playing with friends at the laundrette located in Taman Larkin Perdana, Johor Bahru.
The Larkin Fire and Rescue Department received a stressed call soon after and rushed to the scene in an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle with eight firefighters, Malay Mail reported.
Its operations officer Mohd Kamil Zulkifle said, “The girl climbed into the machine on her own before one of her friends shut the door of the machine.
“The incident was later noticed by a member of the public who wanted to use the machine.”
It took the firemen three minutes to muscle through the lock with a rescue tool. The operation ceased at 4.55pm.
It is not revealed that how long the girl was trapped in the machine.
“She was not injured but was traumatised by the incident and ran home after being rescued,” Mohd Kamil added.
The firemen did not get any information from her because she rushed off shakingly after being rescued.
Poor girl! We hope she did not get too horrified by the experience.
