Nothing is sweeter than watching a bad guy gets served with a hot plate of instant karma slammed on his face. This perfectly timed road accident, probably orchestrated by a higher power in the universe, has not just stopped a thief from fleeing, it has also given him a world of hurt as punishment.

According to Berita Harian, a 19-year-old girl was walking down Jalan Aston, Bukit Mertajam, Penang at about 8.30pm Monday (Jul 29) and suddenly her handbag was snatched by a man.

The suspect, 39, was lying on the floor at the time. When the victim passed by, he got up and choked the victim’s neck.

The suspect then pulled the handbag out of her hand and ran.

The victim screamed for help as the thief was escaping. Members of the public who heard the cry of help quickly chased after the suspect, Seberang Perai Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said.

“They chased after the male suspect who had tossed away the handbag after taking valuable items and cash from it.

“When the suspect was crossing the road, he was knocked over by a car,” Nik Ros said.

The victim received words from the public about five minutes after the incident that the thief was hit by a car, Kosmo reported.

She said she was heading to a coffee shop to buy some food before getting attacked by the suspect. Her handbag contained a phone and about RM50 in cash.

The suspect was sent to Bukit Mertajam Hospital for treatment. Nik Ros said the suspect would be remanded for seven days and the case would be investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery.

If convicted, the suspect would face imprisonment for a term which may extend to fourteen years, and liable to fine or to whipping.

Thief 0: Karma 1. Also, kudos to the passersby who chased after the thief.
