The road rage footage of a man went massively viral on social media on Monday (Sept 24). In one of the two videos, the short 8-second clip saw a man stormed off his white Proton Saga, kicked the victim’s side mirror and attacked the female victim who was filming.
Nana Tan took the footage to Facebook and shared her encounter which happened at the roundabout of Queensbay Mall, Penang. The second clip saw the man assaulting the woman’s head and demanded that she erased all the recordings. The man yelled that he had an emergency that his wife been admitted to the hospital.
Amidst all that, Tan told her husband who was the driver to call the police. A police report was lodged at Sungai Nibong, detailing the incident that occurred around 6.50pm that evening. The post, which had been removed at the time of writing, ended by urging netizens to help her to look for the offender as she wanted the man to compensate the damage done to her Toyota Camry.
According to a report by The Star today (Sept 26), the man had been arrested. Magistrate Nur Azzuin Abdul Moati granted a three-day remand order of the 30-year-old man, which would end on Friday.
The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing damage and Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
Balik Pulau OCPD Supt A. Anbalagan added that the man grabbed two handphones belonging to the woman during the incident. When she asked the phones to be returned, the man pulled her hair. Tan suffered a swollen left finger after the fracas, NST reported.
Based on the police report, two of her children were present during the incident.
