Yeo Bee Yin Is Now A Minister And the Wife to IOI Properties Group CEO

It is official. Our Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister Yeo Bee Yin is the wife of IOI Properties Group Bhd chief executive officer Lee Yeow Seng.

Yesterday (Mar 11), Sin Chew Daily reported that Lee and Yeo had signed the marriage certificate witnessed by the groom’s parents, IOI Corp Bhd executive chairman Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng and Puan Sri Hoong May Kuan, and Yeo’s parents.

Yeo and Lee were caught being together at the end of last year when one of the couple’s friends uploaded a picture of the duo in social media. However, the two of them neither deny or make any comments on the news at that time.

Here is something to know about, our minister’s hubby, Mr Lee Yeow Seng.

Lee who is 40, is the youngest son to Tan Sri Dato’ Lee Shin Cheng and the brother to Dato’ Lee Yeow Chor and Lee Yoke Har. Both siblings are also working for the IOI group. Lee was appointed as the CEO of IOI Properties on 8 Jan 2014. Since his joining to the company in 2013, he has been actively getting himself involved with corporate affairs and general management within the IOI group.

He was a barrister-at-law from the Bar of England & Wales by Inner Temple and has a law degree from King’s College London. He has served at the London and Singapore offices for a leading international financial services group for two years.

His father, Tan Sri Dato’ Lee Shin Cheng has recently made it to Forbes’s Billionaire 2019 list, placing him at the 325th richest person with the net worth of USD5.4 billion (RM22.05 billion).

Meanwhile, Yeo, 35 is a two-term lawmaker who is currently the Bakri MP. She was sworn in as the youngest female minister in the Pakatan Harapan’s Cabinet on July 2 last year.

She was elected as the State Assemblywoman for Damansara Utama in the 13th General Election with more than 30,000 votes − the highest majority for state seats in the country. Yeo was the youngest member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly for the 2013 to 2018 term.

She is a trained engineer with a first-class honours degree from University Technology Petronas. She later obtained a master’s degree with Commendation from the University of Cambridge Scholarship. The Bakri MP was a recipient of the prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship.
