Yeoh: Don’t Share Zahid’s Granddaughter “I will make your life unpeaceful” Viral Video

One thing we can all agree is kids should be mindful of their actions online. But apparently, this mother thought that it’s a good idea to put her 9-year-old at a precarious position.

The case in point here is Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s granddaughter where her mother, Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid, uploaded a video of the child getting involved in the politics.

In an Instagram video uploaded on Friday (Oct 18), it saw nine-year-old Sofee speaking boldly to the camera in a moving car held by a fellow occupant.

Clad in an orange T-shirt where Malaysiakini described it as a mock MACC lockup attire, Sofee declared, “You can lock my grandpa up, but not his soul and his fighting spirit.

“We are his family and we’ll never stop praying for him. I will make your life un-peaceful.

“I will make you regret your life. Remember – I am only 9-years-old and I am my country’s future.”

The 28-second video saw Sofee taking long pauses when delivering her lines as well as exhaling a big breath as if to calm her nerve. Despite her bold statements, she appeared smiley which is definitely unfitting considering the context.

The video was viewed over 100,000 times and the post had disallowed comments. It accompanied by the hashtags #solidarityforgrandpa and #beranikeranabenar (brave because it’s true). Upon seeing it, netizens were quick to point out that Sofee might have been coached by her mother to say the words.

In an earlier video by Nurulhidayah, we could see that Sofee was instructed by her mother to speak when she forgot her lines. Sofee told netizens to attend her grandfather’s solidarity event in the 19-second videoThus, it’s likely that Sofee was told to do the same in the latest video too.

Since the video blew up and covered by mainstream media, Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Hannah Yeoh told the members of the public not to share the video anymore as the kid couldn’t understand the gravity of the issue.

“Parents should protect their children and not allow such videos of them to be floating in the internet,” said Yeoh on a Twitter post today (Oct 21).

“I ask that we stop sharing the child’s video. She is too young to understand what’s going on and it’s normal for kids to be attached to grandparents.

“Adults should know better & not manipulate her emotions. The child is innocent.”
