Zahid: Indonesia Hit by Earthquake and Tsunami Because They Ignore LGBT Issues, Malaysia At Risk Too

In the global news, Donald Trump doesn’t believe in the climax change and said that he has “a natural instinct for science”; over in Malaysia, we have the opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid claiming that Palu, Indonesia, was hit by earthquake and tsunami because they tolerate the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) practices.

According to Malay Mail, the Umno president brazenly said that during Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat today (Oct 23). He was afraid that if the LGBT issue wasn’t taken care of like it did in Indonesia, the wrath of Allah would befall the country as well.

“We look at the situation in Malaysia, we are worried because we know what happened in Palu recently where there was an earthquake and tsunami. It was reported that there were more than 1,000 members of their community who were involved in such (LGBT) activities.

“But the whole area was destroyed as part of God’s punishment.

“I would like to ask, as part of the Malaysian Islamic Development Department’s (Jakim) task, (for them) to implement the Mukhayyam outreach programme to help the LGBT community, and other steps taken by government agencies and other states, and to state the effectiveness of such programmes so we can avoid similar punishment from God, including those who clearly reject the LGBT,” The Star quoted Zahid as saying.

In response,  Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa revealed that some 1,450 LGBT individuals had voluntarily participated in government programmes where some had returned to the “path of Islam”.

“Three of the transvestites performed umrah from 2012 to 2016. The participants responded that they feel more in touch with the basics of Islam including solat (prayer) while correcting their misunderstanding of the religion,” said Mujahid.

The religious affairs minister admitted that LGBT issues were around but assured that the situation was under control. He stressed that the government doesn’t support the LGBT culture and their stance is clear on that. However, he said they would take a different approach to tackle the issue.

He continued that the government realized the LGBT community had plunged into an abyss and got sidelined from the mainstream culture.

“Study shows that there are about 20,000 transgenders, and more than 80% of them are involved in the sex industry.
